RIGS

A combination of; a tractor, or truck, and a pup, semi trailer(s), or trailer(s).

Although `18 wheelers' or `tractor trailers' are still the backbone of the long haul, probably the most common rig on the highways nowadays is the 30 wheeler known as a `Super B'.

Across the prairies, nowadays, and from Toronto to Montreal, `Saskatchewan Triples, or LCV (Long Combination Vehicle), with 50 wheels are a very common combination.

Remember, when counting the wheels most axels have four wheels (tires) although some lift axels only have two. And don't forget to add the two steering tires.

CAR CARRIER (18 wheeler)

(Car Carrier full of cars.)
This could be a truck and pup as the tractor can carry a load by itself.
However the fifth wheel makes it a tractor trailer.

Notice the low roof on the sleeper, to allow cargo to fit above the tractor.
Also the limited clearance between the ground and the bottom of the trailer, to keep the overall height down.
Speed bumps play havoc with this type of vehicle.

FURNITURE VAN (18 wheeler)

(Furniture van and tractor in Atlas colours.)
This is a rather small drome but is probably used, note the windows, as an expansion of the sleeper.
