THE UNOFFICIAL SEAWALL

BURRARD STREET to CAMBIE STREET

One could, I suppose, refer to the seawall as: new; old; or planned, rather than official and unofficial.

Most of what I call `unofficial' is either recently finished or under construction.

What I refer to as official, or original, was built some time ago, though it is constantly under repair and upgrading.

What I call `unofficial unofficial' is actually only under consideration and consists of paths, sidewalk, and streets.

Another way of separating would be Park Board or City.

All of what I call official is under the auspices of the Park Board while what I have called unofficial is under the jurisdiction the City of Vancouver.

(Stairs from Burrard St. Br. to the seawall.)

BENEATH THE BURRARD STREET BRIDGE, STAIRS LEAD PEDESTRIANS TO THE NEXT STAGE OF THE SEAWALL.
THIS STRETCH OF SEAWALL IS SHARED BY CYCLISTS AND PEDESTRIANS.
PEDESTRIANS MUST BE CAREFUL BECAUSE CYCLISTS DO NOT OBEY THE SIGNS,
` RIDE SLOW AND YIELD TO PEDESTRIANS'.
ACROSS THE WATER IS GRANVILLE ISLAND.

The Sea Wall, entertains, and thrills, Vancouverites, and visitors, night and day, summer and winter, to this day.

The section of seawall between the Burrard St. and Granville St. bridges was completed in the late 1900's.
It fronts an area of heavy residential and light commercial.
Its view is of the waters, and the South Shore, of False Creek.

False Creek is so named because, though it meanders like a creek it is actually a narrow inlet, or short fjord.
A branch of English Bay and is salt, not fresh, water.
