BACKGROUND PERFORMER

(Quote) Lee A. Wood - `Extras' are often told, "Do not look at the camera".

They commonly mistake this for, `do not look at the actors or the action'.

An extra should react to what is happening around him. It is not `still' photography.

I once made a comment, "We are just extras". The director happened to be passing through the `Extras Holding' area at the time.
He called for the attention of everyone and said, "You are not `Just Extras'. You are actors without lines".

I have always remembered that and incorporated it into my performance.

Think the part, act the part, but do it quietly, and unobtrusively,
so that you `add to', rather than, `distract from', the main action.
